Yesterday I visited a printmaking place in Rochester called Doc 2 Letterpress where I got to learn about & actually try out their (ancient!) printmaking supplies. It was such a great experience to physically hold and pick type. Makes you appreciate typography on a computer and just the intensity of time and effort that went into early graphic design pieces.
I ended up getting to print 20 sheets of a design that I came up with. Overall it was a slow process since we had so many other people there but it was great because all of the “off” times were spent perusing through the cases of type!
And how perfect was it that I ran across this typography piece the very same day…
Really lovely mixture of photography and typography.
